MoonPay, Zengo Merge Security and Simplicity to Expand Crypto Access

MoonPay Ventures, the investment arm of crypto payments leader MoonPay, has announced a strategic investment in Zengo Wallet, a self-custodial cryptocurrency wallet, as part of a broader partnership expansion. The collaboration, which positions MoonPay as the exclusive payment provider for Zengo's Buy and Sell Crypto features, aims to enhance accessibility to digital assets while maintaining a focus on security and user experience.
The partnership allows Zengo users to fund their wallets using familiar payment methods such as credit/debit cards, bank transfers, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPalPYPL--, and Venmo. Zengo Pro subscribers, in particular, gain access to discounted fees, advanced tools, and deeper transaction insights, further streamlining crypto transactions. Ivan Soto Wright, co-founder and CEO of MoonPay, emphasized that the collaboration merges Zengo's security-first approach with MoonPay's global payments infrastructure to "make digital asset ownership simpler, safer, and more accessible."
Zengo, which has over 2 million users across 180+ countries, is known for its MPC (multi-party computation)-based keyless recovery system, eliminating seed phrase vulnerabilities. The wallet also offers institutional-grade security features like BitcoinBTC-- Vaults and inheritance-style tools for Pro users according to MoonPay's official announcement. Ouriel Ohayon, Zengo's co-founder and CEO, noted that the partnership reflects a shared vision of making self-custody "both secure and effortless," with MoonPay's infrastructure enabling faster onboarding into the blockchain ecosystem.
MoonPay Ventures' investment is designed to support Zengo's global growth and product development, including upcoming features like Virtual Accounts powered by Iron, a MoonPay subsidiary. These accounts will allow businesses using Zengo's institutional-grade treasury solution to fund accounts more efficiently according to company statements. The investment also aligns with MoonPay's broader mission to drive mainstream crypto adoption, as the company powers infrastructure for nearly 500 decentralized economy firms and has 30 million customers globally according to market analysis.
The partnership underscores a growing trend in the crypto industry: combining robust security with user-friendly interfaces to lower barriers to entry. Zengo's focus on MPC cryptography and MoonPay's regulatory compliance (licensed in the U.S., UK, EU, Canada, and Australia) position the collaboration as a significant step toward mainstream adoption as reported by industry analysts.
