Monex chairman Matsumoto says company is considering acquisition of European crypto firm, announcement expected "within days" - TV Tokyo
Monex Group Chairman Oki Matsumoto recently shared his vision for the future of financial transactions at WebX Asia 2025, predicting that most financial activities will be conducted on blockchain platforms. He likened this shift to the digitization of paper securities, suggesting that everything will eventually be tokenized [1]. Matsumoto also highlighted Japan's need to update its regulatory framework to protect consumers and foster industry growth, given the advancements in artificial intelligence and global access to services [1].
Separately, an Australian businessman, Christopher Flinos, has been accused of misleading investors. His crypto firm, Hayvn, collapsed, and Flinos has been banned from the Cayman Islands and Abu Dhabi due to alleged fraud and non-compliance with anti-money laundering regulations [2]. Flinos previously served as the CEO of Hayvn and had a background in investment banking and commercial banking.
Meanwhile, Monex Group is reportedly considering the acquisition of a European crypto firm. According to TV Tokyo, the announcement is expected within days [3]. This move aligns with Matsumoto's vision of embracing blockchain technology and expanding Monex Group's presence in the global crypto market.
