Moca Foundation Unveils Moca Chain for Decentralized Identity Verification

Moca Foundation, a blockchain development firm, has unveiled Moca Chain, a new layer-1 blockchain network designed to facilitate decentralized, privacy-preserving identity verification. This innovative network is specifically engineered for identity and user data management applications, with the goal of supporting the development of identity protocols that enable individuals, devices, and artificial intelligence agents to control and verify their credentials without relying on centralized service providers.
The Moca Chain network is scheduled to launch its testnet in the third quarter of 2025, with the mainnet deployment planned for the fourth quarter of the same year. The network will utilize the MOCA token for various functions, including transaction fees, validator staking, storage, oracle services, data generation, and verification fees. One of the key features of Moca Chain is its ability to verify both onchain and offchain user data by applications on any chain. This is achieved through the ecosystem’s decentralized data storage, crosschain identity oracle, and web proof data generation using zero-knowledge transport layer security (ZK-TLS) and onchain verification. This compatibility with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) ensures interoperability with Ethereum and its sister chains.
Yat Siu, co-founder and executive chairman of Animoca Brands, a crypto venture capital firm and launch partner of Moca Foundation, emphasized the importance of Moca Chain in addressing the security vulnerabilities associated with single sign-on (SSO) implementations. SSO allows users to access multiple applications and services with a single set of login credentials, but it also represents a centralized point of failure that compromises security. Moca Chain aims to solve this problem by giving users decentralized true ownership of their data, ensuring the sovereignty of users’ digital identity without a single point of failure.
The Moca Network’s identity management software development kit, AIR Kit, is already integrated into offerings by various partners, including Animoca Brands’ portfolio companies, partners, and affiliates. This integration reportedly results in a reach of over 700 million addressable users. Data from AIR Kit-integrated systems will be available to protocols and applications built on Moca Chain, including leading loyalty rewards programs and media companies with significant user bases. This integration underscores the potential impact of Moca Chain in enhancing digital identity management and privacy preservation across various industries.
