T-Mobile Posts 0.51% Drop on 145th-Ranked 830M Volume Amid 4.3B UScellular Acquisition Expansion
T-Mobile US (TMUS) closed August 1, 2025, with a 0.51% decline, trading at $0.83 billion in volume, ranking 145th in market activity. The company finalized its $4.3 billion acquisition of UScellular’s wireless operations, expanding its customer base by over four million and enhancing network coverage. This move aims to integrate UScellular’s footprint into T-Mobile’s high-speed 5G infrastructure, offering customers expanded broadband access and new service benefits.
The acquisition includes UScellular’s retail locations, spectrum assets, and customer base, with a phased transition to T-Mobile branding. Customers will gain access to T-Mobile’s streaming perks, international roaming, and in-flight Wi-Fi. While UScellular’s brand will dissolve over time, its infrastructure arm, Array Digital Infrastructure Inc., will retain spectrum and towers as a standalone entity. T-Mobile emphasized no disruption to its $14 billion shareholder return program and plans to disclose financial impacts during its Q3 earnings call.
A separate $175 million acquisition of Iowa-based wireless entities further strengthens T-Mobile’s network reach. The combined transactions, expected to close August 5, 2025, aim to improve connectivity in rural areas and expand T-Mobile’s competitive edge in the U.S. wireless market. CEO Mike Sievert highlighted the strategic value of integrating UScellular’s operations to deliver enhanced services and customer experiences.
