In May, the prices of mobile phone panels continued to diverge, according to CINNO Research. The a-Si panels, driven by the recovering smart terminal market, showed an increase in both quantity and price. Meanwhile,
production lines maintained high operating rates due to the sustained growth in automotive display demand. However, some domestic flexible AMOLED production lines experienced a slight decrease in operating rates from their previous full-capacity status, influenced by U.S. tariff policies.CINNO Research's chief analyst, Zhou Hua, noted that the a-Si panels are in high demand, bolstered by the robust market for tablets and notebook computers. Major production lines are operating at full capacity, with manufacturers in South China slightly increasing mobile product prices to secure market share. However, the module prices offered to brands have not increased, indicating that brand customers are still strictly controlling costs.
For LTPS panels, the continuous growth in automotive display demand has kept major manufacturers like BOE and Tianma operating at full capacity. Tianma's LTPS production line is expected to remain fully operational until the end of the year.
In the AMOLED sector, the demand for rigid AMOLED panels has been shrinking due to adjustments in the product strategies of domestic mobile phone brands, which are increasingly shifting towards flexible AMOLED. Some domestic flexible AMOLED production lines have seen a slight decrease in operating rates. Additionally, U.S. tariff policies have led terminal manufacturers to demand lower panel prices. To maintain production line operating rates and secure more orders, some flexible AMOLED products, such as LTPO types, have seen a slight price reduction. However, the lowest-priced products have not seen further price cuts to ensure profit margins.
CINNO Research predicts that in May and June 2025, the brand-end module prices for a-Si panels will remain stable. LTPS panel prices are expected to stay stable in the short term, as will rigid AMOLED panel prices. Some flexible AMOLED panel products may see price reductions, but overall prices will remain relatively stable.
