LISTEN UP, FOLKS!
is in the hot seat, and it’s not just because of its aggressive union-busting tactics. The company has been under fire for canceling its diversity programs to curry favor with the Federal Communications Commission and for funneling billions of dollars to Elon Musk through its partnership with his Starlink service. This is a recipe for disaster, and the public is taking notice.
On September 9, 2025, CWA President Claude Cummings Jr. addressed coalition allies during a call to announce a boycott of T-Mobile. Cummings didn’t mince words: “T-Mobile has been among the worst labor law violators over the past 15 years.” He went on to say, “Now T-Mobile is showing everyone what they really stand for. Not only is the company in business with a billionaire CEO who supports authoritarian governments around the world, but it also recently ended its diversity initiatives to appease the Trump regime so the administration would fast-track approval of two major acquisitions.” Cummings’ message was clear: “To win this fight, we must make it clear to corporations that being in bed with Donald Trump is bad for business.”
The boycott is just the beginning. Other speakers, including U.S. Representative Mark Pocan, President of the American Federation of Teachers Randi Weingarten, Bekah Hinojosa of the South Texas Environmental Justice Network, and Evan Sutton with the
Takedown Movement, all weighed in on the issue. They’re all calling for a boycott, and they’re not alone. CWA members will be distributing flyers at T-Mobile store locations to inform customers about the boycott. Click here to sign the pledge to boycott T-Mobile.
This is a no-brainer, folks. T-Mobile’s decision to end its diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs could have significant long-term effects on its corporate reputation and employee morale. The potential backlash from labor activists and the public, decreased job satisfaction, increased turnover, and legal implications could all contribute to a less inclusive and less productive work environment. This is a company that’s playing with fire, and it’s only a matter of time before it gets burned.
The implications of this movement extend beyond labor relations, impacting democratic governance. When corporate power encroaches on freedoms historically fought for by labor movements, it threatens the rights of all workers, creating an imbalance favoring corporate interests. This struggle is reminiscent of the early 20th-century labor movements, where workers stood against monopolistic corporations to demand fair wages and working conditions, illustrating that history often repeats itself when economic power goes unchecked.
So, what’s the bottom line? T-Mobile is in trouble, and it’s only going to get worse. The boycott could lead to a decrease in customer loyalty and trust, a loss of subscribers, a decrease in stock prices, and a loss of market share, as consumers and investors become aware of the company's labor practices and its association with controversial figures like Elon Musk. This is a company that’s on the ropes, and it’s only a matter of time before it goes down for the count.
So, what do you do? You need to act now! Sign the pledge to boycott T-Mobile and make your voice heard. This is a fight for worker rights, and it’s a fight that we can’t afford to lose. So, stand up, speak out, and let T-Mobile know that we won’t stand for their union-busting tactics and their partnership with Elon Musk. This is a fight for the future of labor relations in America, and it’s a fight that we can’t afford to lose.
