MIT Announces Top Winners of the 42nd Annual Research Science Institute

The Center for Excellence in Education has announced the award winners for the 42nd annual Research Science Institute at MIT. The top 5 written research winners and top 5 oral presentation winners each received a $1,000 scholarship award from Regeneron Pharmaceuticals. Munich Limpachat was chosen as the Rickoid of the Year, recognizing academic acumen, leadership, and personal demeanor. The awards underscore the high level of academic acumen among the 100 participants in the summer program.

The Center for Excellence in Education (CEE) has announced the award winners for the 42nd annual Research Science Institute (RSI) held at MIT. The event, which took place from June 22 to August 2, 2025, recognized the top 100 participants through oral and written presentations, with awards sponsored by Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, Inc. [1].

The top five written research winners were:
- Jayveer Kochhar from Dhirubhai Ambani International School, Mumbai, India
- Sum Yuet Keisha Kwok from St. Paul’s Girls’ School, London, UK
- Susie Lu from Stanford Online High School, Stanford, California
- Suzuko Ohshima from North Hollywood High School, North Hollywood, California
- Celine Zhang from Phillips Exeter Academy, Exeter, New Hampshire

The top five oral presentation winners were:
- Scarlet Gitelson from Latin School of Chicago, Chicago, Illinois
- Judy Li from Wycombe Abbey School, High Wycombe, United Kingdom
- Dimana Pramatarova from High School of Mathematics "Acad. Kiril Popov", Plovdiv, Bulgaria
- Emmanuel Soon Yi En from Anglo-Chinese School (Independent), Singapore
- Aarush Tutiki from Albuquerque Academy, Albuquerque, New Mexico

In addition, Munich Limpachat from Ashbury College in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, was chosen as the Rickoid of the Year, recognizing academic acumen, leadership, and personal demeanor [1].

Joann P. DiGennaro, President of the Center for Excellence in Education, stated, "These scholars are our future creators, inventors, scientists, and leaders of the 21st century, and their research represents a high level of academic acumen. The 2025 RSI summer program consisted of one week of theoretical classroom work followed by four-and-a-half weeks of innovative research under the mentorship of leading scientists, engineers, and researchers. Students demonstrated their research work through written academic papers and oral presentations to their peers and a panel of judges [1].
