MicroVision's MOVIA lidar system is now supported on NVIDIA DRIVE AGX platform, enabling seamless utilization by automotive customers. This will accelerate opportunities in the automotive market for advanced perception-enhanced solutions. MicroVision's perception compute within the sensor provides robust point cloud data, making it a crucial key to unlocking important safety features for OEMs.

MicroVision (NASDAQ:MVIS) has announced a significant milestone in its technology integration efforts by supporting its MOVIA™ lidar system on the NVIDIA DRIVE AGX platform. This strategic move enhances the company's market position and accelerates the adoption potential of its advanced perception-enhanced lidar solutions in the automotive industry.

The NVIDIA DRIVE AGX platform, known for its AI computing capabilities, is a leading choice for autonomous driving applications. The integration of MicroVision's MOVIA lidar system with this platform simplifies the process for automotive OEMs to access processed point cloud data, thereby reducing the processing burden on the vehicle's central computer and potentially speeding up perception response times.

MicroVision's MOVIA lidar system is designed to cater to two distinct segments: the MOVIA L sensor for commercial trucking applications and the MOVIA S sensor for high-volume automotive applications. The MOVIA L sensor is a fully industrialized, solid-state lidar system, while the MOVIA S sensor offers high performance at a competitive price, making it suitable for the high-volume automotive market.

The availability of MicroVision's technology on the NVIDIA DRIVE platform is expected to lower the barrier to adoption for its perception technology. Automotive OEMs typically prefer technologies that integrate seamlessly into their existing technology ecosystems, and the NVIDIA DRIVE platform has substantial market penetration. This integration allows for faster integration into automotive OEMs' ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) and autonomy platforms, potentially accelerating MicroVision's opportunities in the automotive market.

From a technical perspective, this integration means automotive manufacturers can now more easily access MicroVision's processed point cloud data with onboard perception compute capabilities. This is a crucial differentiator in the competitive lidar market, as it reduces the processing burden on the vehicle's central computer and potentially accelerates perception response times.

MicroVision's CTO, Glen DeVos, commented on the significance of this integration, stating, "With our MOVIA solution now supported on the NVIDIA DRIVE AGX platform via a plugin driver, we're giving automotive OEMs and other partners robust point cloud data already processed by our powerful perception compute within the sensor. This will allow for faster integration into automotive OEMs' ADAS and autonomy platforms, which we anticipate will accelerate our opportunities in the automotive market."
