Microsoft (MSFT.US) expects Bing's AI summary feature to rival Google's generative AI search.
Microsoft (MSFT.US) said it has invited some Bing users to test AI summary features in search results. The company said the feature combines the search results page, generative AI and large language models (LLMs) to dynamically respond to users' queries.
In a blog post published today, the company said: "By combining the power of generative AI and large language models with the search results page, Bing's generative search can create customized, dynamic responses to users' queries."
Bing's generative AI is similar to Google's (GOOGL.US) AI Overviews, which creates AI-generated summaries of Google search queries, which was released in May. AI Overviews has faced some criticism that it could disrupt web traffic and decrease natural access to advertising media, impacting ad revenue. Microsoft acknowledged the potential impact.
Microsoft said: "We will continue to monitor how generative search impacts advertising media traffic. Early data indicates that this experience maintains site clicks and supports a healthy web ecosystem." The company said it is rolling out its new generative AI search product slowly and plans to share more updates in the coming months.
According to Statista's latest data, Google continues to dominate internet search with 87% of all searches. Bing is second with an 8% share.
