Micron Technology has launched the world's first PCIe Gen6 SSD for AI data centers, with a 9th generation 3D NAND technology offering superior performance and energy efficiency. The company's HBM revenue has seen a 50% QoQ increase, while data center-related revenue has more than doubled YoY. Analysts cite AI and data center expansion as major growth catalysts, placing Micron among the best strong buy stocks.

Micron Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:MU) has made a significant stride in the data center SSD market by unveiling the world's first PCIe Gen6 NVMe™ SSD. This innovative product, built with Micron's 9th generation 3D NAND technology, promises superior performance and energy efficiency, positioning it as a game-changer for AI data centers.

The new SSD, named Micron 9650, offers a sequential read speed of up to 28GB/s and 5.5 million random read IOPS, more than doubling the performance of many previous-gen drives. This high-speed capability is particularly beneficial for AI training and inference workloads where throughput is crucial. The SSD also boasts up to 67% improved power efficiency on reads compared to its Gen5 counterparts [3].

In addition to the Micron 9650, the company has introduced two more SSDs: the 6600 Ion and the 7600. The 6600 Ion SSD offers an unparalleled level of storage density, with a 122TB version set to arrive later this year and a 245TB variant scheduled for early 2026. These high-capacity drives are designed to replace traditional hard drives, saving significant amounts of physical rack space and power [3].

Micron's new SSDs have already been validated with key partners, including Nvidia, Dell, Broadcom, and Astera Labs, ensuring smooth integration and qualification. Samples of the 9650 and 7600 are available to customers now, with the 122TB 6600 Ion expected to be available later in Q3. No pricing has been announced, but given the level of performance, it is expected to be a premium product [3].

Micron's latest achievements come at a time when the company's HBM (High Bandwidth Memory) revenue has seen a 50% QoQ increase, while data center-related revenue has more than doubled YoY. This growth is largely driven by the expansion of AI and data center markets, positioning Micron as a strong buy stock according to analysts [1][2].

The launch of these new SSDs underscores Micron's leadership in data center SSDs and signals a new era of performance, density, and efficiency for its customers. As AI and data center markets continue to grow, Micron is well-positioned to capitalize on this opportunity.
