Microchip Technology has introduced the dsPIC33AK512MPS512 and dsPIC33AK512MC510 Digital Signal Controller (DSC) families to address growing demands for security and functional safety in real-time embedded applications. The devices offer industry-leading PWM resolution, low-latency ADCs, and advanced security features, enabling efficient and reliable designs for modern power conversion, motor control, and sensing applications.

Microchip Technology (Nasdaq: MCHP) has bolstered its digital signal controller (DSC) product line with the introduction of the dsPIC33AK512MPS512 and dsPIC33AK512MC510 families. These new devices address the evolving security and functional safety demands of real-time embedded applications, offering precise, high-speed control essential for modern power conversion, motor control, and sensing applications [1].

The dsPIC33AK512MPS512 family delivers industry-leading 78 ps high-resolution Pulse Width Modulations (PWMs) and low-latency 40 Msps ADCs, enabling fast and accurate control loops for optimizing the performance of Silicon Carbide (SiC) and Gallium Nitride (GaN)-based DC-DC converters. The dsPIC33AK512MPS devices also feature advanced security features, an integrated touch controller, and a high pin count of up to 128 pins [1].

The dsPIC33AK512MC family, on the other hand, offers low-latency, 40 Msps ADCs and 1.25 ns PWM resolution, providing a feature- and cost-optimized solution for multi-motor control and complex embedded applications. Both families integrate a double precision floating-point unit and a 32-bit architecture, accelerating mathematical computations and supporting model-based design code [1].

These new DSCs from Microchip are supported by a comprehensive development tool ecosystem, including MPLAB XC-DSC Compiler, MPLAB Code Configurator (MCC), and MPLAB Machine Learning Development Suite. The devices are also compatible with partner software and tools such as SAFERTOS® real-time operating system from WHIS, TRACE32® debugger from Lauterbach, and others [1].

The dsPIC33AK512MPS/MC DSCs are available starting at $1.50 each in volume, with pricing details and availability information available on the Microchip website [1]. These devices are designed to meet the stringent requirements of safety-critical automotive and industrial applications, with compliance to ISO 26262 and IEC 61508 standards [1].

The introduction of these new DSC families reflects Microchip's commitment to innovation and its position as a leading provider of smart, connected, and secure embedded control and processing solutions. The company's easy-to-use development tools and comprehensive product portfolio enable customers to create optimal designs that reduce risk while lowering total system cost and time to market [1].
