This purchase, made at an average price of $105,435 per Bitcoin, has elevated Metaplanet's total holdings to 10,000 BTC, surpassing Coinbase's 9,267 BTC and securing the ninth position among publicly traded companies with the largest Bitcoin reserves.
Metaplanet's cumulative investment in Bitcoin now stands at approximately $947 million, with an average acquisition cost of $94,697 per BTC. The company began its Bitcoin accumulation strategy in April 2024, demonstrating a strong commitment to the cryptocurrency as a core asset.
One of the key performance indicators for Metaplanet is its Bitcoin yield, a proprietary measure that tracks the percentage change in the ratio of total BTC holdings to fully diluted shares outstanding. The company has shown impressive figures in recent quarters, with a Bitcoin yield of 41.7% in Q3 2024, 309.8% in Q4 2024, 95.6% in Q1 2025, and 87.2% in Q2 2025 to date.
To support its aggressive Bitcoin acquisition strategy, Metaplanet issued $210 million in zero-percent ordinary bonds. The market has responded positively to the company's strategy, with shares closing 26% higher on Monday, reaching 1,895 yen. This move underscores Metaplanet's dedication to Bitcoin as a strategic asset and its confidence in the cryptocurrency's long-term value.
