Despite these issues, Meta remains optimistic about the revenue potential of its generative AI products, projecting earnings of $2 billion to $3 billion in 2025 and between $460 billion and $1.4 trillion by 2035.

Meta's investment in generative AI is substantial, with a budget exceeding $900 million in 2024 and projected to surpass $1 billion in 2025. The company also plans to spend $60 billion to $80 billion on capital expenditures in 2025, primarily on new data centers. Additionally, Meta has revenue-sharing agreements with companies hosting its Llama models and has launched an API for customizing Llama releases. Meta AI, the company’s AI assistant powered by Llama, may eventually show ads and offer a subscription with additional features, as mentioned by CEO Mark Zuckerberg during the company’s Q1 earnings call.
