Meta has partnered with Nigerian designer I.N. Official to unveil the first-ever AI-powered fashion collection at Africa Fashion Week London on Saturday, August 9 [1]. Titled “Transcendence,” the Fall/Winter 2025 collection was created using
AI’s creative technologies throughout the design process, from fabric and color selection to storytelling and visualization [2]. The collection merges traditional African attire, such as the Agbada, with elements like the Japanese Hakama silhouette, generated via Meta AI’s “Imagine” feature, which helped produce mood boards and inspirational visuals for the design process [3].The collaboration is a testament to how AI can enhance creativity rather than replace it, enabling designers to explore new artistic boundaries. Ifeanyi Nwune, Creative Director of I.N. Official, emphasized that the collection symbolizes a future where African creativity is amplified by technology, fostering
and innovation [1]. The use of Meta AI in the design process also extended to accessories, with the AI tool providing creative suggestions based on specific prompts, blending functionality with artistic flair [3].Balkissa Idé Siddo, Public Policy Director for Sub-Saharan Africa at Meta, stated that the collection demonstrates how Meta AI, available in widely used platforms like WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, and Messenger, can become an integral part of the creative process. This initiative reflects Meta’s broader commitment to supporting African creatives by providing accessible tools that allow them to express their vision and engage with global audiences [1].
The event marks a pivotal moment in the integration of AI into the creative industries, particularly in African markets. By leveraging AI tools, the project highlights a shift in how fashion collections are conceptualized and brought to life, opening new possibilities for designers who may lack access to traditional design resources [2]. The collaboration is not only a technical milestone but also a cultural one, showcasing how African designers are gaining global recognition through innovative approaches to design and storytelling [3].
Africa Fashion Week London is expected to attract attention from both fashion and technology sectors, offering a stage for AI-driven creative expression. The event underscores the growing interest in AI adoption within the fashion industry, where generative tools are redefining workflows and artistic expression. As the first AI-powered collection to debut at the event, “Transcendence” sets a precedent for future collaborations between technology and fashion, reinforcing the role of AI as a catalyst for innovation [2].
The partnership between Meta and I.N. Official also reflects the broader narrative of technological empowerment across creative fields. By supporting designers like Nwune, Meta contributes to a movement that seeks to democratize access to AI tools and foster diverse creative communities [1]. The success of this collaboration could inspire a new wave of designers to explore the intersection of fashion and technology, particularly in regions where traditional design tools may not be as accessible [3].
Meta AI, described as the world’s most accessible AI assistant, continues to expand its role beyond basic productivity into creative domains. Its integration into this project exemplifies how AI is evolving from a supplementary tool to a collaborative partner in the creative process, offering new ways for creators to bring their ideas to life [2].
