Meta Platforms(META.US) said on Wednesday it plans to spend $10 billion to build a 4 million square foot artificial intelligence (AI) data center in Louisiana, which will be the company's largest data center globally. To power the data center, utility Entergy (ETR.US) will add clean power plants to its system to meet the growing electricity demand. Meta said it will use 100% clean and renewable energy and will work with Entergy to bring at least 1,500 megawatts of new renewable energy onto the grid. Meta earlier this week said it was seeking proposals from nuclear developers to try to use nuclear power for its AI data centers. Entergy has two nuclear power plants in Louisiana and previously received legislative approval to invest in transmission and generation to serve Amazon's upcoming cloud service facility in Mississippi.
