Meta Platforms, Inc. has broadened its partnership with Invenergy, a renewable energy developer, by signing four new agreements to provide 791 megawatts (MW) of solar and wind power to its data centers. The new projects, situated in Ohio, Arkansas, and Texas, will supply electricity to the local grids, with Meta receiving renewable energy certificates corresponding to the new generation capacity. The financial specifics of these agreements remain undisclosed.
This latest energy procurement initiative is part of Meta's ongoing strategy to meet the escalating power demands of its data centers, driven by advancements in artificial intelligence technology. Last year, Meta and Invenergy signed four agreements to purchase 760 MW of solar power. With the addition of the new contracts, the total capacity of their collaboration has expanded to 1,800 MW.
