Meta Acquires AI Voice Startup Play AI for Undisclosed Terms

Meta has acquired voice startup Play AI, which uses AI to generate human-sounding voices. The entire PlayAI team will join Meta next week, with the acquisition reportedly a great match for Meta's work in AI characters, Meta AI, wearables, and audio content creation. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. This acquisition comes after Meta made big investments in AI, including recruiting from OpenAI and a deal with Scale AI.
