Meridian Health Plan of Illinois and the Centene Foundation have jointly awarded a $2.2 million grant to Safer Foundation to purchase and renovate an apartment building in Chicago's South Austin neighborhood. The grant will support the creation of 23 affordable rental units for underserved individuals. Safer Foundation is a nonprofit providing reentry assistance for over 50 years. The renovated units will be available in 2026.
