Pump.fun, a meme coin platform, has received a cease and desist order from a law firm alleging intellectual property violations. The law firm, Burwick Law, is demanding the removal of tokens that impersonate their likeness, including one called DOGSHIT2. Burwick Law recently proposed a class action lawsuit against Pump.fun, alleging widespread securities fraud.
The controversy surrounds a Solana-based meme coin, DOGSHIT2, which has seen a significant increase in value, according to CoinGecko data. Burwick Law claims that references to the token being tied to one of their wallets were found in exhibits initially filed against Pump.fun. The law firm maintains that they have no affiliation, endorsement, or ownership interest in the DOGSHIT2 token or any related assets.
Burwick Law also alleges that Pump.fun launched tokens designed to intimidate their clients and interfere with ongoing litigation. They claim that these acts represent the use of blockchain technologies as a tool for disrupting justice and due process. Previously, Burwick Law represented investors in a lawsuit against the creators of Hawk Tuah ($HAWK), alleging they exploited Hailey Welch’s internet fame to promote an unregistered security.
