MEET48 Launches Blockchain-Based Global Idol Contest

MEET48, the world’s first entertainment-focused Web3.0 AI-Agent and AIUGC creator and fan economy ecosystem community, has announced the launch of its inaugural Web3.0 Global Idol Annual Popularity Contest, known as WIPA. The event is set to commence today at 14:00 UTC+8, marking a significant milestone in the integration of blockchain technology with the idol selection process.

The contest, officially titled "The 1st MEET48 All-Community Annual Idol Popularity Audition & Ceremony," will allow international fans to vote for the first-generation TOP16 idols through the MEET48 app and official website. The voting period will close on August 2 at 12:00 UTC+8, with the results being announced during the WIPA Annual Final Award Ceremony and Showcase. This event will be held concurrently with the SNH48 GROUP Annual Youth Festival, in partnership with global strategic collaborators, at the Arena of the AsiaWorld-Expo.

This initiative represents the first global attempt to incorporate blockchain mechanisms into the idol selection process. Participants in the contest include members of the SNH48 GROUP, real-life idols primarily from Japan, South Korea, and other regions of Asia, as well as AI-Agent groups and representative teams from the virtual human domain. The winners of the contest will gain access to exclusive opportunities, including dedicated singles, overseas stage performances, and game endorsements.

International fans have four methods to cast their votes: directly using IDOL tokens, purchasing scorecards with IDOL tokens or diamonds, gifting during relevant live streams on the MEET48 App, and acquiring scorecards via other channels.
