McDonald's 'Is Proud Of' Donald Serving Fries In Their Restaurant, But Emphasizes 'They Are Apolitical'
After former U.S. President Trump, who is currently the Republican presidential candidate, sparked attention by working at McDonald's, the fast-food giant is trying to remain neutral in the U.S. election.
According to an internal memo from McDonald's to its U.S. restaurants, the company stated: As we've seen, our brand has been a fixture of conversation this election cycle. While we've not sought this, it's a testament to how much McDonald's resonates with so many Americans. McDonald's does not endorse candidates for elected office and that remains true in this race for the next President. We are not red or blue - we are golden
On October 20th, about two weeks before the U.S. election, Trump appeared at a McDonald's restaurant in the suburbs of Philadelphia to work. He not only personally fried fries but also served them to customers waiting in the drive-thru lane, chatted with them, and took the opportunity to launch more attacks on his opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris.
McDonald's stated: Though we are not a political brand, we've been proud to hear former President Trump's love for McDonald's and Vice President Harris's fond memories working under the Arches.
Both McDonald's and the franchisee operating the Philadelphia restaurant emphasized that the chain is open to everyone.
Franchisee Derek Giacomantonio, who is the franchise's owner and operator, said in a statement: As a small, independent business owner, it is a fundamental value of my organization that we proudly open our doors to everyone who visits the Feasterville community. That's why I accepted former President Trump's request to observe the transformative working experience that 1 in 8 Americans have had: a job at McDonald's
Although McDonald's publicly supported the Black Lives Matter movement in 2020, it has been trying to portray itself as a non-political brand to avoid alienating customers.
