Meta Platforms Inc (META.US) CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Nvidia Corp (NVDA.US) CEO Jen-Hsun Huang discussed their vision for AR glasses that can integrate many technologies into a sleek designer frame at the SIGGRAPH2024 conference in Denver on Monday. He hopes to eventually launch a range of AR glasses at different price points, depending on what tasks they can perform; they will have built-in AI assistants, with broad capabilities while remaining fashionable. “Our Ray-Bans can’t hold all the technology. We’re getting closer and closer, and it might take us another two or three years. We want them to look great,” said Zuckerberg.

Zuckerberg also discussed the impact of AI on Meta’s products. “We’ll have a Meta AI assistant, but we want our customers to build their own assistants. We call it AI Studio, which is a set of tools that allows every user to build their own AI version. There’s only so much time in a day. We can’t interact with everyone we need to every day. But we can create a version of our assistant that can interact with people,” he said.

He also said that Meta’s large language models Llama3 and Llama4 would become more efficient and less like chatbots. Huang said: “Today’s AI is reactive. You give it input, it gives you feedback. In the future, AI will be able to plan.”

Zuckerberg said: “One interesting use case we see is people using AI models to provide support. We see a lot of people using Meta AI to play difficult situations. For example, how to ask for a promotion from your boss, which provides a lot of room for discretion in handling those situations.” He added that as technology develops, Facebook and Instagram will continue to add more AI features.

Turning market noise into visual signal.
