MapleStory Universe Unveils Blockchain-Driven Ecosystem with APIs New IP and Developer Tools

MapleStory Universe, Nexon’s blockchain-powered gaming platform, has unveiled a series of strategic updates aimed at advancing its "Infinite IP Playground" (IIPP) vision. The initiative includes the launch of new developer infrastructure, the deployment of a gameplay logic API for item enhancement, and the announcement of a new Nexon IP joining the ecosystem. These developments mark a pivotal step toward transforming MapleStory from a traditional game into a decentralized, community-driven ecosystem where players and creators collaborate to expand the boundaries of gaming [1].

The rollout of the first enhancement API, focused on item customization mechanics, is set to debut on 29 July via a prototype service called Smithy. This API allows developers to interact with core gameplay systems, enabling the creation of tools, services, and experiences that extend beyond Nexon’s original design. By opening access to these systems, MapleStory Universe aims to foster a modular environment where third-party developers can contribute to the metaverse’s evolution. To support this ecosystem, MapleStory Universe has activated infrastructure upgrades, including a Builder Center—a portal for developers to access API integration and on/off-chain tools—planned for Q4 2025.
