Mahindra Aero wins Airbus H125 helicopter fuselage making deal
Mahindra Aerostructures Pvt. Ltd. (MASPL) has been awarded a significant contract by Airbus Helicopters to manufacture the main fuselage of its best-selling H125 helicopter. This deal further cements India's role in Airbus's global supply chain and aligns with the 'Make in India' initiative [1].The contract, announced on July 2, 2025, involves the production of H125 fuselages at Mahindra's Bengaluru facility. Industrialization is set to begin immediately, with the first delivery targeted for 2027. This is not the first collaboration between Airbus and Mahindra; Airbus awarded MASPL a similar contract for the H130 fuselage in April 2025 [2].
The deal underscores Airbus's confidence in India as a critical hub for global aerospace manufacturing. The H125 is one of the world's best-selling single-engine helicopters, used for various applications, including passenger transport, law enforcement, medical evacuation, and rescue operations. The contract is part of a broader strategy to integrate India into Airbus's global value chain, aiming to develop and mature the rotorcraft market in the country [1].
Mahindra Group's Group CEO and Managing Director, Anish Shah, highlighted the significance of the partnership, stating that it strengthens the company's long-term relationship with Airbus and reflects their role in building India's aerospace ecosystem. Airbus's President and Managing Director for India and South Asia, Jurgen Westermeier, echoed this sentiment, noting that the contract is a testament to the strong capabilities of their Indian partners [2].
The contract complements Airbus's broader strategy in India, which includes the establishment of Final Assembly Lines for the H125 and C295 military aircraft with Tata Advanced Systems Limited. These initiatives aim to create a comprehensive aerospace ecosystem encompassing design, manufacturing, assembly, maintenance, and training [2].
Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.'s shares were down 0.75% at ₹3,305.70 on the NSE following the announcement, reflecting market sentiment towards the deal [1].
