Magnachip Semiconductor reported Q2 2025 revenue of $47.6 million, continuing its strategy to become a pure-play power semiconductor company. The company outlined over 50 new power products for 2025, amid headwinds in China. CEO Young-Joon Kim stated that Magnachip has executed on its strategic pivot and remains focused on the power semiconductor market.

Magnachip Semiconductor Corporation (MX) reported its Q2 2025 revenue of $47.6 million, marking a 8.1% year-over-year increase and exceeding the midpoint of its guidance range [1]. The company, under the leadership of CEO Young-Joon Kim, continued its strategic pivot to become a pure-play power semiconductor company.

Kim emphasized the launch of 28 new generation products in the first half of 2025, with a goal to release 40 new generation Power Analog Solutions products by year-end. He noted that Magnachip is now targeting over 50 new generation products by the end of 2025, reflecting its commitment to accelerating its product roadmap [1].

The company achieved 71 total design wins in the quarter, up 61% from the 44 design wins in Q2 of last year. Notably, 23 of these design wins were for new products, representing 32% of all wins [1].

Magnachip's CFO, Shin Young Park, reported that the company's total Q2 consolidated revenue from continuing operations was $47.6 million, up 8.1% year-over-year and up 6.5% sequentially. SG&A expenses were $9.3 million, down from $9.7 million in Q2 2024, and R&D expenses were $7 million, up from $5.8 million in Q2 2024 [1].

Park revised the company's full-year 2025 revenue guidance to be flattish compared to the previous forecast of mid- to high-single-digit growth year-over-year. Gross profit margin guidance was also revised to a range of 19% to 20% [1].

The company faced challenges in China, including tariff uncertainty and pricing pressure on older generation products, which led to a downward revision in guidance. Management cited these factors as key challenges affecting the near-term outlook [1].

Despite these challenges, Magnachip is proactively reducing costs and prioritizing operational efficiency. The company is targeting to achieve adjusted EBITDA breakeven in Q4 2025 through a voluntary resignation program, aiming for an annual OpEx reduction of $2 million to $3 million [1].

Investors will likely focus on the pace of new product adoption and management's ability to navigate external market challenges as Magnachip seeks to return to profitability and deliver on its 3-3-3 strategy.
