Recently, Lloyd’s Register (LR), a renowned maritime organization, announced a strategic collaboration with Microsoft to integrate Microsoft’s Azure Open AI technology. The partnership aims to enhance regulatory processes for maritime nuclear technology, bridging the gap between land and ocean applications, thereby accelerating the implementation of nuclear power in maritime settings.

The innovative approach leverages Azure’s generative AI capabilities to process historical nuclear licensing data, allowing licensing engineers to draft, review, and refine documentation more efficiently. The implementation of AI aims to drastically reduce licensing turnaround times and associated costs, pivotal for establishing nuclear energy as a viable clean energy alternative.
