Litecoin Plunges 11% in Major Selloff
Litecoin, the fifth-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization, experienced a significant selloff on Monday, with its price dropping by 11.18% to $114.16. This decline marked the largest one-day percentage loss for Litecoin since February 24. The selloff pushed Litecoin's market capitalization down to $9.11 billion, representing 0.48% of the total cryptocurrency market capitalization. At its peak, Litecoin's market capitalization reached $25.61 billion.
Over the past seven days, Litecoin has seen a decrease in value, with a loss of 2.57%. The volume of Litecoin traded in the 24 hours leading up to Monday was $976.41 million, or 0.41% of the total volume of all cryptocurrencies. The price of Litecoin has fluctuated between $114.04 and $139.88 over the past week. Despite the recent decline, Litecoin remains down 72.82% from its all-time high of $420.00, which was reached on December 12, 2017.
Monday's selloff in Litecoin comes amidst a broader market downturn in the cryptocurrency sector. Bitcoin, the largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization, fell by 2.46% to $93,433.2, while Ethereum, the second-largest cryptocurrency, dropped by 7.60% to $2,590.74. Bitcoin's market capitalization stood at $1,866.72 billion, representing 98.00% of the total cryptocurrency market capitalization, while Ethereum's market capitalization totaled $319.23 billion, accounting for 16.76% of the total cryptocurrency market value.
