"Libra Co-Creator Accused of Manipulating Argentine President"
The scandal surrounding the Libra memecoin, a Solana-based token, has deepened as reports suggest that one of its co-creators, Hayden Davis, claimed to have controlled Argentine President Javier Milei through financial payments to his sister, Karina Milei. Local media outlet La Nación reported on Feb. 18 that Davis boasted about his influence over the President, alleging that he had sent money to Karina Milei to manipulate her brother.
In leaked messages, Davis reportedly stated that Milei would comply with his demands due to the financial support provided to his sister. One message read, "I control that n. I send $$ to his sister and he signs whatever I say and does what I want." However, Davis has denied these allegations through his spokesperson, Michael Padovano, who claimed that Davis had no recollection of sending such messages and found no record on his phone.
President Milei has since distanced himself from the Libra situation, denying any wrongdoing and insisting that he acted in good faith. Meanwhile, Davis has been in contact with Milei's team to contain the fallout from the Libra memecoin collapse. According to another La Nación report, discussions involved assurances that the President would not publicly accuse Davis of misconduct, plans to send an envoy for further talks, and advice for Davis to avoid media appearances.
Davis' involvement in the MELANIA token and his suggestion that TRUMP had an insider trading opportunity during an interview with YouTube investigator Stephen Findeisen, known as "Coffeezilla," have further fueled the controversy. The collapse of the Libra token has sparked legal debates and shaken Argentina's financial markets, with the country's S&P Merval index dropping by more than 5% following the incident.
