Ledger Integrates SUI Tokens, Expands Self-Custody to 20% of Crypto Market
Ledger, a leading provider of digital asset security solutions, has announced that its users can now self-custody sui and Sui tokens directly within Ledger Live. This integration allows users to securely buy, send, and receive SUI and Sui tokens, with additional features such as swap and staking support expected to be added later this year. This development is significant as Ledger secures 20 percent of the total crypto market cap, making self-custody of SUI and Sui’s DeFi ecosystem accessible to a broader audience.
With the integration of Sui into Ledger Live, users can now enjoy several benefits. Clear Signing allows Sui users to participate fully within the Ledger Live interface, enabling human-readable transactions and increasing transaction verifiability. This feature enhances security by reducing the risk of insecure blind signing. Additionally, Ledger Live provides access to a wider range of Sui tokens, allowing users to engage more deeply with the Sui ecosystem. The integration also paves the way for future features such as swap and staking, which will enable users to do more with their Sui assets.
Ledger devices are designed to protect private keys from online threats and support multi-signature security for high-value transactions. This ensures that users have full control over their assets without relying on third parties, providing a best-in-class self-custody experience. Ian Rogers, CXO of Ledger, emphasized the company's mission to empower users with the best user experience and zero compromise on security or self-custody. He highlighted that millions of Ledger customers can now access Sui’s fast and scalable network, protecting their Sui assets from the safety and comfort of Ledger Live.
Christian Thomson, Managing Director at Sui Foundation, noted the importance of providing SUI and Sui token holders with access to a variety of wallets. He praised Ledger Live as a powerful option for self-custody, playing a mission-critical role in expanding global access to the Sui ecosystem. The integration will roll out in phases, beginning with core functionality and adding additional features over the coming months. Ledger and Sui will continue to partner closely to enhance capabilities as adoption grows, ensuring users can seamlessly engage with Sui’s expanding DeFi ecosystem while maintaining control of their assets.
