"LayerZero Connects 115+ Blockchains via Cronos EVM and zkEVM"

LayerZero, a leading cross-chain interoperability protocol, has announced its integration with Cronos EVM and zkEVM, connecting over 115 blockchains. This strategic move enables seamless asset and data transfer across different blockchain networks, enhancing liquidity and functionality for various decentralized applications (dApps).
Cronos EVM, built on the Cosmos SDK, facilitates asset transfers between the Cosmos ecosystem and numerous EVM-compatible blockchains. The integration is achieved through the Inter-Blockchain Communication (IBC) protocol, the cross-chain communication standard in the Cosmos ecosystem. This allows assets to be sent between Cronos and other blockchains without intermediaries.
Cronos zkEVM, a layer 2 solution, focuses on improving throughput and reducing transaction times. As the first Elastic Chain to go live on the mainnet after ZKSync Era, Cronos zkEVM shares Ethereum bridges with several Elastic chains, enhancing cross-chain transfer times. It also works with various layer 1 and layer 2 networks.
Ken Timsit, CEO of Cronos Labs, emphasized the importance of cross-chain connectivity in addressing fragmentation issues in the crypto industry. He believes that the integration with LayerZero is a strategic move to improve security and liquidity, as more connections between crypto projects and traditional financial systems are expected in 2025.
Bryan Pellegrino, CEO of LayerZero Labs, highlighted the potential of the opportunities that this collaboration brings. He noted that interoperability is the process of connecting different types of chains, and Cronos zkEVM is another valuable contribution in this regard.
Currently, the cross-blockchain features provided by LayerZero are available to developers only. End users can access these features through third-party links on Cronos's official bridge portals: cronos.org/bridge for Cronos EVM and zkemv.cronos.org/bridge for Cronos zkEVM. In the coming weeks, users will be able to send CRO and zkCRO tokens via new token bridging services.
Cronos Labs is committed to supporting developers in utilizing these tools. Apart from token bridging, the focus is also on supporting decentralized
