Latin America's Blockchain Revolution: SenseiNode Leads PoS Infrastructure Expansion

SenseiNode, a leading staking firm, is actively building Proof-of-Stake (PoS) infrastructure in Latin America, aiming to enhance the resilience and decentralization of blockchain networks like Ethereum and Solana. The company, which manages approximately $800 million in staked assets, is the 15th largest staking provider globally.

Pablo Larguia, CEO of SenseiNode, told CoinDesk that when the company started, 99% of nodes were concentrated in Europe, the US, and Asia. SenseiNode was the first to introduce geographic and jurisdictional decentralization to Latin America by setting up validator infrastructure in the region.

SenseiNode operates in various Latin American countries, including Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Chile, Costa Rica, and Colombia, as well as the US and Germany. The company uses local and regional data centers to host its nodes, unlike many other providers that rely on centralized services like Amazon Web Services.

However, data centers in Latin America may not be as advanced as those in the West, which has required SenseiNode to play an educational role and help build the necessary infrastructure for staking services in some cases.

The requirements for running nodes vary depending on the protocol. For instance, some projects may have larger storage requirements if their blockchain history is older. Node costs also differ; running an Ethereum validator costs around $300 per month, while a Solana validator can cost up to $800 per month. However, there are no limits to the number of tokens that can be delegated to a single Solana validator, unlike Ethereum validators, which are limited to 32 ETH each.

SenseiNode currently operates around 9,000 Ethereum validators, making it one of the largest staking providers for the network. The company also manages nodes for other PoS networks like Polkadot and Avalanche.
