The total length of the twin tunnel road is 33.49 km, with a projected completion time of 38 months.
The project is expected to alleviate traffic congestion and improve connectivity in Bengaluru. The toll for vehicles using the one-way tunnel road is set at ₹19 per km, with the contractor having the right to collect tolls for 30 years post-construction [2]. The BBMP, which is implementing the project, is awaiting approval from the Finance Department before inviting tenders.
In addition to the tunnel roads project, Kumaraswamy also urged the Centre to support the Peripheral Ring Road (PRR) project. The PRR aims to decongest Bengaluru’s core areas and improve overall traffic management.
