Kulicke & Soffa Industries launched ASTERION™-TW, an ultrasonic terminal welding system for power module manufacturing. The system provides a flexible, precise, and highly-capable alternative to mass-reflow for high-reliability power applications. ASTERION™-TW features high power and force capability, high-resolution linear motor positioning, and a ±180° weld head rotation. The ultrasonic terminal welding process offers a solid-state, no-heat bonding process, eliminating external heat, consumables, adhesives, and chemical byproducts.
