KuCoin Ventures Invests in USDT-Powered Stablecoin Blockchain Stable

KuCoin Ventures, the investment arm of global cryptocurrency exchange KuCoin, has made a strategic investment in Stable, a new high-throughput Layer 1 blockchain built specifically for stablecoin applications. Described as the first "Stablechain," the platform is designed to support stablecoin issuance, settlement, and payments, with USDT as its primary fuel [1]. The initiative has drawn support from key figures in the crypto and traditional finance sectors, including Bitfinex CTO Paolo Ardoino, Bitfinex, Hack VC, and Franklin Templeton [2]. This investment underscores growing interest in developing specialized blockchain infrastructure for stablecoin use cases.

Stable aims to solve long-standing inefficiencies in on-chain payments, such as high transaction fees, slow confirmation times, and usability issues [3]. Unlike general-purpose blockchains like Ethereum or Tron, Stable integrates payment-centric features directly into its protocol layer, offering a streamlined experience for users. A key innovation is the use of USDT as the native gas token, eliminating the need for a separate utility token and enabling gas-free peer-to-peer transfers [4].

The blockchain employs StableBFT, a consensus mechanism derived from Cosmos’ CometBFT, and plans to adopt a Directed Acyclic Graph (DAG) architecture to enhance scalability and transaction speed [5].
