"Killer Whales: Web3's Billion-Dollar Bet Returns"
Killer Whales, the world's first Web3 business reality TV show, is set to return for its second season on March 6, 2025, with expanded global syndication and bigger stakes. The show, which has already reached 600 million views in 65 countries, will air on X and Hello TV, with global rollout on Amazon Prime, Apple TV, TUBI, and Google Play in April.
The program brings together top Web3 investors, founders, and influencers, known as "Whales," who assess blockchain startups. Competitors vie for capital, mentorship, and strategic partnerships, gaining extensive exposure within the Web3 space. Season 2's prizes include a $1.5 million incubation fund, a $100,000 accelerator package from CoinMarketCap, and guidance from leading investors. Projects receiving at least three out of five "Swim" ratings from judges will secure monetary and strategic backing.
Killer Whales has partnered with industry leaders such as Hacken, Bitget, Casper, and DEXCHECK AI to provide contest participants with networking opportunities, exposure, and access to growth-oriented tools. The program also supports winners and outstanding projects with media production, strategic placements, and investor introductions.
HELLO Labs CEO Sander Görtjes highlighted the show's success in positioning itself as a leading Web3 reality show through high production quality and mainstream audience participation. He noted the show's ability to educate viewers about blockchain innovation and bridge the gap between mainstream entertainment and Web3.
Killer Whales' first season was a resounding success, with an IMDb rating of 8.5 and a "Certified Fresh" rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Projects featured on the show raised over $10 million, with 15% securing acquisitions or substantial funding. Notable successes include Wallet Guard, which expanded its user base from 17,000 to 117,000 and was later acquired by ConsenSys to enhance MetaMask security. ApeWater, a Web3 beverage brand, raised $2.5 million at a $20 million valuation and partnered with professional athletes. FX1 secured credit financing of $350,000 and joined the Google Startup Program.
