Kazakhstan Launches New Cross-Border Tourist Train Routes to Boost Cultural Ties

Three new tourist train routes are set to launch this fall, connecting Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan in a bid to promote cross-border tourism and strengthen cultural ties between the two nations. The Kazakh Tourism national company announced the initiative on Aug. 28, noting that the routes would feature trips lasting from five to seven days, all originating from Almaty. These tours include guided excursions, modern train accommodations, partial meal plans, and transport services. Packages are already available for purchase through various tour operators.

The first route, provided by Khan-Turan Travel, will start on Sept. 21, covering notable cities such as Almaty, Turkistan, Tashkent, Samarkand, and Bukhara, with additional stops in Taraz and Shymkent. Turan Kazakhstan Travel will offer the second route, commencing on Sept. 26, also traversing key cities including Samarkand, Bukhara, Tashkent, Turkistan, and Almaty. Lastly, Skyway will operate the third route from Sept. 30, connecting Almaty, Turkistan, Samarkand, Bukhara, and Tashkent before returning to Almaty. The launch of these routes is aimed at fostering regional tourism and enhancing the appreciation of the shared historical and cultural heritage of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
