Karnataka: Two Arrested for Selling Newborn Baby for ₹1 Lakh

In Karnataka, Chikkamagaluru police arrested the mother of a newborn, Ratna, and another person, Kusuma, on charges of selling the baby for ₹1 lakh to Raghavendra in Koppa. The baby was handed over to Kusuma, a retired nurse and relative of Raghavendra, after Ratna and her husband Sadanand gave birth to the baby at a government hospital. Officials from the Child Welfare Committee and N.R. Pura police rescued the baby and arrested the duo.
