Kalyana Karnataka will get 50 additional public schools, in addition to the 100 sanctioned by the government. The Karnataka Public Schools will be established with a ₹100 crore grant each from the government and the Kalyana Karnataka Region Development Board. The initiative aims to provide quality education to underprivileged children in rural areas.

In a significant move to enhance education infrastructure in Kalyana Karnataka, the region is set to welcome 50 new Karnataka Public Schools (KPS) by the 2025-26 fiscal year. This expansion, announced by the Kalyana Karnataka Region Development Board (KKRDB) Chairman Dr. Ajay Singh, complements the state government's plan to build 100 KPS in the region [1].

The initiative, which aims to provide quality education to underprivileged children, will see the KKRDB and the state government each contributing ₹100 crore to fund the additional schools. These schools will be constructed at the gram panchayat level and are expected to surpass private institutions in quality [1].

The KKRDB has allocated ₹5,000 crore for the current fiscal year, with a target to fully utilize this amount. The board has approved micro- and macro-level action plans to ensure effective utilization of these funds. Dr. Singh highlighted that ₹3,145 crore was spent in the previous fiscal year, indicating a commitment to efficient spending [1].

In addition to education, the board has approved significant funding for healthcare and industrial development in the region. This includes the establishment of a new NIMHANS branch and the Institute of Diabetology in Kalaburagi, cancer hospitals in Raichur and Bidar, and a super-specialty hospital in Koppal. Furthermore, ₹100 crore has been allocated for promoting MSMEs and a 50:50 cost-sharing model with the Forest Department for afforestation [1].

The board also discussed the recent decline in SSLC results and plans to provide necessary infrastructure upgrades once the education department submits a district-wise list of requirements. Additionally, a mega dairy is being set up in Kalaburagi at a cost of ₹50 crore to support local dairy farmers and boost rural livelihoods [1].

The meeting was attended by key ministers and officials, including Minister for Minority & Wakf B Z Zameer Ahmed Khan, Forest, Environment, and Zoology Minister Eshwar Khandre, and Minister for Medical Education, Skill Development, and Livelihood, Dr. Sharan Prakash Patil [1].
