Joule Capital Partners, Caterpillar Inc., and Wheeler Machinery Co. have announced a strategic agreement to power Joule's High Performance Compute Data Center Campus in Utah. This initiative aims to deliver four gigawatts of energy to the center of the Intermountain West, making it the largest single campus in Utah and one of the most advanced data centers in the world [3].
Caterpillar will provide generator sets, support equipment, and integrated combined cooling heat and power (CCHP) solutions. The distributed generation system will produce electricity and capture waste heat to power and cool next-generation, high-density server systems. Joule's campus will feature 1.1 gigawatt hours of grid-forming battery energy storage, along with backup power generation served by diverse fuel sources [3].
Wheeler Machinery Co. will provide service and support for the products and solutions, ensuring uptime and availability targets are met. This strategic alliance combines world-class engineering with local expertise to bring gigawatt-scale capacity to market faster and more efficiently [3].
The project represents a significant investment in Utah's infrastructure, potentially creating job opportunities and boosting local tax revenue. As the AI data center market is projected to reach USD 100 billion by 2030, growing at a CAGR of 30%, the demand for such advanced facilities is expected to continue increasing [2].
