Jin Jiang International and Warner Bros. (WBD.US) are collaborating to create a "Harry Potter Studio Tour" in Shanghai.

Jinjiang International Group announced on Wednesday that Warner Bros. (WBD.US) has agreed to collaborate with it to develop a large-scale theme project, "Harry Potter Studio Tour", in Shanghai.
Jinjiang International Group signed a joint venture framework agreement with Warner Bros. Discovery's Global Experiences division to co-develop Warner Bros. (Shanghai) Studio Tour - "Harry Potter's Birth", abbreviated as "Harry Potter Studio Tour (Shanghai)".
According to the information, Jinjiang International said on social media that the proposed Harry Potter large-scale theme park will allow Chinese tourists to gain a deeper understanding of the behind-the-scenes of the "Harry Potter" series movies and recreate some classic scenes on the international big screen. The large-scale theme project is expected to cover an area of over 53,000 square meters.
The project is part of a large-scale renovation of Shanghai theme parks operated by Jinjiang International, which is expected to open in 2027. The large plan still needs to be approved by relevant regulatory authorities.
It is reported that this will be Warner Bros.' third "Harry Potter Studio Tour" in the world after London and Tokyo, which have been warmly welcomed by Harry Potter fans worldwide and attracted a large number of tourists, becoming an important part of global movie theme parks.
Although foreign movies account for a small proportion of the total box office in China due to strict quotas and the rise of local content, the "Harry Potter" Hollywood movies have been very popular in the Chinese market for a long time.
Universal Studios Beijing has a "Harry Potter's Wizarding World" themed area, offering Harry Potter-themed rides and some popular attractions. Last year, eight "Harry Potter" series movies were also re-released in Chinese cinemas.
The "Harry Potter" series movies were re-released in Chinese cinemas in October 2024, attracting a large number of Chinese movie fans. According to statistics, "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" raked in over RMB73 million in 16 days and "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" over RMB41 million in 8 days. Therefore, the planned "Harry Potter Studio Tour" in Shanghai is a timely response to the Chinese market demand by Warner Bros., which is expected to be warmly welcomed by Chinese movie fans.
