Title: JetBlue Integrates SkyBreathe MyFuelCoach for Enhanced Fuel Efficiency

JetBlue Airways has taken a significant step towards optimizing fuel consumption by integrating the SkyBreathe MyFuelCoach platform. This innovative application leverages artificial intelligence and machine learning to provide pilots with personalized guidance on fuel-efficient flying practices. The platform is part of the SkyBreathe suite of fuel efficiency tools from OpenAirlines, which is already used by more than 75 airlines worldwide.

The SkyBreathe MyFuelCoach application enables pilots to analyze their individual fuel performance on past flights and receive tailored recommendations to improve future fuel consumption. By combining machine learning and historical flight data, the platform delivers actionable insights to help flight crews operate more efficiently. This initiative supports JetBlue’s broader JetForward strategy, enhancing operational efficiency and lowering fuel consumption to secure the airline’s financial future.

Chris Lum, system chief pilot at JetBlue, emphasized the potential for small gains in efficiency to translate into major savings over the course of more than 900 daily flights. With access to real-time performance insights through SkyBreathe MyFuelCoach, pilots can refine their procedures and contribute to the JetForward strategy, strengthening the airline's financial foundation through cost savings while also addressing emissions.

JetBlue’s fuel optimization team will also use the SkyBreathe 360 dashboard to identify broader operational trends. By analyzing collected flight data from all flights, SkyBreathe can highlight system-wide opportunities to save fuel. This includes refining taxi procedures and identifying airports or common operational configurations that could benefit from improved scheduling and procedures, thereby minimizing ground delays and fuel waste.

The integration of SkyBreathe MyFuelCoach joins other fuel-saving initiatives at JetBlue, such as the implementation of PACE Aerospace’s SmartRoutes app for time and fuel savings in flight. These efforts also support JetBlue’s broader environmental strategy, which includes a younger, more efficient fleet, Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), electrified ground operations, and investments in low-carbon technologies.

JetBlue's fleet, which includes Airbus A220, Airbus A320, Airbus A321, Airbus A321neo, and Embraer E190 aircraft, stands to benefit significantly from these fuel optimization efforts. By examining historical flight data, SkyBreathe has already found an additional 73,000 gallons in potential monthly savings, equivalent to more than 700 tons of CO2e annually.

Alexandre Feray, CEO of OpenAirlines, expressed pride in partnering with JetBlue, noting their rapid success with SkyBreathe. "The MyFuelCoach app plays a crucial role in helping pilots make more informed decisions and reinforcing the airline's fuel-conscious culture," he said. JetBlue joins a global network of over 75 airlines leveraging digital technology for greater operational efficiency and a smaller carbon footprint.
