Jakson Engineers has announced a significant investment of over ₹8,000 crore to establish a 6 GW integrated solar manufacturing plant in Madhya Pradesh [1]. This substantial investment marks the largest solar manufacturing initiative in the state and is part of the company's broader renewable energy ambitions. The plant, situated at Maksi Phase II, will produce solar modules, cells, and wafers, contributing to India's energy security and global leadership in solar technology. The project will be executed in two phases over an 110-acre site. Phase I, with an investment of approximately ₹2,000 crore, will establish a 3 GW capacity for solar modules and 3 GW for solar cells. Phase II, requiring over ₹6,000 crore, will involve setting up a 6 GW solar wafer plant, along with additional 3 GW capacities for solar modules and cells. The plant is expected to commence operations with solar modules by May 2026, followed by solar cells in September 2026.
Sundeep Gupta, Vice Chairman of Jakson Group, highlighted the project's significance, noting that it is a milestone for both the company and India's renewable energy sector. Gagan Chanana, Joint Managing Director and CEO of Jakson Solar Modules and Cells, emphasized the strategic value of the plant, which will support the country's energy needs and enhance India's global position in solar energy.
Madhya Pradesh was chosen for its central location, robust infrastructure, and progressive renewable energy policies. The new facility is expected to create over 1,000 jobs during the construction phase and employ around 1,400 people once operational. Jakson Group, founded in 1947, has expanded from diesel generator manufacturing to become a leading provider of multi-faceted energy solutions, with a broad network of manufacturing facilities, sales offices, and international locations.
