Israel reiterates travel warning for UAE
Israel has reinforced its travel advisory for citizens residing in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), citing heightened terrorist activities targeting the country. The National Security Headquarters, under the Israeli Prime Minister's office, has intensified its warning due to the increased intensity of terrorist organizations operating in the region [1].The National Security Council (NSC) has also issued a clarification, noting that terrorist groups are motivated to carry out revenge attacks following recent military operations and the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza [2]. The NSC has maintained a level 3 travel warning for the UAE, advising against non-essential travel [2].
This travel warning comes amidst ongoing geopolitical tensions and humanitarian concerns in the Middle East. The UAE President, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer emphasized the need for a just, lasting peace between Israelis and Palestinians through a two-state solution [3]. The leaders also discussed the need for an urgent ceasefire in Gaza and the delivery of humanitarian aid to the region.
The Israeli government faces mounting international pressure over the situation in Gaza, where a global hunger monitor has warned of a potential famine [3]. The Gaza health ministry reported seven more hunger-related deaths, including a two-year-old girl, on Wednesday [3]. The Israeli military has taken steps to ease the supply of food into Gaza, but the volume of aid is still insufficient [3].
In response to the escalating humanitarian crisis, Belgium has announced it will participate in a multi-country operation coordinated by Jordan to airdrop aid to Gaza [4]. The Belgian government will provide medical supplies and food worth approximately 600,000 euros ($690,000) [4].
