In a significant milestone for Irish cycling, Ben Healy (EF Education-EasyPost) became the first Irishman in 38 years to wear the coveted yellow jersey in the Tour de France. This achievement comes after a thrilling 10th stage that saw a powerful escape group battle for supremacy on the challenging course from Ennezat to Mont-Dore.

The stage was marked by a breakaway of 29 riders that included notable climbers such as Lenny Martinez (Bahrain Victorious), Simon Yates (Visma-Lease a Bike), and Ben Healy. The group maintained a substantial lead over the main peloton, which was tightly controlled by the UAE Team Emirates-XRG of Tadej Pogacar. As the stage progressed, the breakaway group thinned out, with the likes of Thymen Arensman (Ineos Grenadiers) and Ben O'Connor (Jayco-AlUla) pushing for the stage victory.

Simon Yates, a key figure in the Visma-Lease a Bike team, made a decisive move in the final ascent to Le Mont-Dore Puy de Sancy, overtaking Healy and Arensman to secure his third stage win in the Tour de France. This victory not only showcased Yates' climbing prowess but also solidified his team's dominance in the race.

Despite losing the stage, Healy's performance was exceptional. His third-place finish in the stage, combined with the efforts of his team in the breakaway, allowed him to take the yellow jersey from Tadej Pogacar. Pogacar, who had been leading the race, was unable to maintain his position and now trails Healy by 29 seconds in the overall standings.

The next stage of the Tour de France will be a day of rest for the riders, with the 11th stage scheduled for Wednesday, July 16. This break will provide much-needed recuperation time before the challenging mountain stages that lie ahead in the second week of the race.
