In the early hours of June 22, the Israeli military announced that it had detected missiles launched from Iran targeting various locations across Israel, including the major cities of Tel Aviv and Haifa. The Israeli government's news office reported that as of 8 PM local time, the missile and drone strikes launched by Iran had resulted in 24 fatalities and 1,272 injuries. According to Israeli statistics, Iran had fired over 450 missiles at Israel.
The Israeli military spokesperson released a video statement, indicating that the Israeli military had expanded its operations across all domains. That evening, the Israeli military deployed approximately 60 fighter jets to strike multiple locations within Iran, further disrupting Iran's missile production chain and weakening its missile launch capabilities. The spokesperson also mentioned that over the past week, Iran had launched over 1,000 drones towards Israel, but only a small number had entered Israeli airspace. In addition to intercepting the drones, the Israeli military systematically targeted Iran's drone command chain, destroying approximately 950 drones that had not yet been launched.
On the same day, the Israeli military conducted a new round of airstrikes on the southern Iranian port city of Abadan, targeting weapon facilities including drone warehouses. The Israeli Air Force conducted new airstrikes on Iran's central and southwestern regions in the afternoon local time. The targets included a naval base of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, a set of ballistic missile launchers, and multiple anti-aircraft radars. The Israeli military stated that it had recently struck an anti-aircraft missile launcher in southwestern Iran. Other targets included the capital Tehran, the central city of Isfahan, and western regions of Iran.
Iran launched a new round of missiles and drones at Israel, but Israel's air defense system successfully intercepted most of the incoming targets. The Israeli military estimated that it had destroyed over 50% of Iran's missile launchers. This escalation in tensions between Israel and Iran highlights the ongoing conflict and the potential for further military action. The situation remains fluid, and both sides are likely to continue their military operations in the coming days.
