Infosys and Telstra Form Joint Venture to Boost AI and Cloud Services in Australia

Infosys and Telstra have formed a joint venture in Australia to accelerate AI-enabled cloud and digital solutions for local businesses. Infosys will acquire 75% of Versent Group, a subsidiary of Telstra, for cloud and digital transformation services. The collaboration will leverage Infosys' AI capabilities and cloud offerings, and aims to deliver differentiated value to accelerate end-to-end digital transformation for Australian enterprises and government corporations.

Infosys and Telstra have announced a strategic joint venture to accelerate AI-enabled cloud and digital solutions for Australian enterprises. Infosys, a global leader in next-generation digital services and consulting, will acquire a 75% stake in Versent Group, a subsidiary of Telstra, for cloud and digital transformation services. The collaboration aims to leverage Infosys' AI capabilities and cloud offerings to deliver differentiated value and accelerate end-to-end digital transformation for Australian businesses and government corporations.

The joint venture is expected to close in the second half of fiscal year 2026, subject to regulatory approvals. Infosys will have operational control, while Telstra will retain a 25% minority stake. This partnership combines Telstra's connectivity with Versent's local digital engineering expertise and Infosys' global scale and AI capabilities.

Vicki Brady, Chief Executive Officer of Telstra, expressed confidence in the value that can be unlocked through this collaboration. Salil Parekh, Chief Executive Officer of Infosys, highlighted the potential of Infosys Topaz™ to enable transformative AI-first capabilities. Oliver Camplin-Warner, Group Executive for Telstra Enterprise, emphasized the unique proposition created by combining the strengths of both organizations.

Infosys shares jumped 2% to Rs 1449.90 on Thursday following the announcement, reflecting market confidence in the deal's potential to strengthen Infosys' presence in Australia's cloud and AI services market. The acquisition, valued at AUD 233.25 million (over Rs 1,300 crore), is part of Infosys' broader strategy to help clients navigate their AI journey and enhance digital transformation.

This collaboration is a key step in strengthening the strategic partnership between Infosys and Telstra, building on their previous collaborations to enhance technology leadership, drive innovation, and support Telstra's new Connected Future 30 strategy.
