Indian Consumers Embrace Premium Products Amid Market Sluggishness

In India, the sales of premium consumer durables such as refrigerators, washing machines, and televisions have surged, with 4K televisions accounting for 41% of all TV sales in the first four months of 2025, up from 38% a year earlier. Smartphone sales have declined by 2% YoY, but the ultra-premium segment grew 20% and the premium segment grew 2%. The average selling price of smartphones is expected to cross $300 for the first time this year.
