The platform's philosophy is reflected in its name, Itihaas (history in Hindi) and Haus (house in German), which means "history for your house."

Itihaus, an online platform launched by Suman Kakumani in Hyderabad, has emerged as a unique space for curating Indian-rooted art and rare collectibles. The platform aims to celebrate heritage, time-life aesthetics, and craftsmanship, reflecting its philosophy in its name, Itihaas (history in Hindi) and Haus (house in German), which translates to "history for your house."

The platform's latest venture is a participation in Design Democracy 2025, an exhibition connecting global interior and lifestyle brands with architects, designers, and property owners. Itihaus will present works by 12 artists, including Kandi Narasimlu, Basuki Dasgupta, Bhaskar Rao, Priyanka Aelay, Ashok Rathod, and Naman Mahipal. The collection ranges from folk depictions of women in conversation to acrylics of Telangana couples, mythological works, and wooden and bronze sculptures, all showcasing the rich diversity of Indian art.

Suman Kakumani, the founder, attributes the inspiration for Itihaus to her passion for art and the way COVID-19 reshaped our approach to personal spaces. She believes that a vibrant painting or figurative form can transform a space and create a beautiful experience.

Looking ahead, Itihaus plans to host exhibitions in Delhi and Mumbai, further expanding its reach and influence. The platform's focus on celebrating Indian heritage and craftsmanship positions it as a significant player in the art market, particularly in the digital space.
