India will allow Pakistani athletes to compete in international tournaments hosted in the country, despite a diplomatic standoff between the two nations. The decision comes after months of uncertainty sparked by India's suspension of visa services for Pakistani nationals in April 2025. Pakistani athletes will be able to participate in events like the Asian qualifiers for the Olympics and World Championships in swimming, weightlifting, and squash. However, bilateral sporting ties remain suspended, and Pakistan's cricket team will not be allowed to play in India until 2027.
