India Accelerates City Gas Infrastructure Approvals Amid LPG Shortages

The Indian ministry of road transport and highways has introduced a fast-track approval framework for city gas distribution infrastructure to boost PNG and CNG expansion amid LPG supply constraints. The new policy will expedite CGD applications, reduce timelines for granting of RoW for laying gas pipelines along national highways, and prioritize CNG or LCNG station access permission. The government aims to reduce LPG import dependence and promote piped natural gas use.
